#475 Everyone Should Like The Foo Fighters!

They play rock, they roll and as a bonus come across as very nice people... I mean what's not to like?
Promoting there new record, they recently did a "Garage Tour" meaning they actually played people's garages, for free, for 50 people max. Watch the film below to see how that went for them.

Thank you for this YouTube user bd594. His inspiration according to his site.

"This is dedicated to all fans of The B-52’s who are also known as the “Worlds Greatest Party Band”. This idea has been simmering in my mind for the last couple of years and after many months of procrastinating it is finally complete. I was also motivated to finish my robot band after seeing a YouTube Video from “The Trons” from New Zealand.

The Bit-52’s consist of:

Fred’s Vocals - TI99/4a computer, speech synthesizer and terminal emulator ii module
Kate and Cindy’s Vocals - Two HP Scanjet 3C scanners, UBunto and sjetplay written by NuGanjaTron
The Guitar, Keyboard, Cow Bell, Cymbal and Tambourine are all controlled by various types of push/pull solenoinds for a total of 23. The Solenoids are powered by four ULN2803 darlington drivers and everything is controlled by two PIC16F84A microcontrollers".

#294 200 Cigarettes: The Movie With The Best Musician Cameos... Ever!

Spinner.com just put a list online entitled "Musician Movie Cameos You Might Have Missed". There's the Lemmy Killmister in Airheads part, Anthony Kiedis with a Mister T. hairdo in Point Break and Pearl Jam in Singles to name but a few. I really doubt though, whether you could have actually missed these cameos, but whatevs.

One movie with great musician cameos got left out though. I'm talking about the movie 200 Cigarettes.
Set during New Year's Eve of 1981, in which, according to IMDB, "a collection of twentysomethings try to cope with relationships, loneliness, desire and their individual neuroses".
Long story short, Cristina Ricci is looking for a New Years Party in the Lower East Side, Manhatten, along the way meets Elvis Costello (musician cameo one) and ends up at a concert where Girls Against Boys (musician cameo two) dressed up as "punks" are playing "Boogie Wonderland".

The most important musician cameo (number three) however comes from my friend Marc McCoy, who used to be the singer for my old band Das Oath. He was hired to do The Pogo and is trying to look in the camera as much as possible. Watch below and skip to 00.54.40 to see this particular part. Watch the whole thing over the weekend. It's worth it!

Oh yeah. Courney Love is somehwere in this thing as well (musician cameo 4).

#289 Caught In A Mosh With Johnny Depp, Jason Priestly And Agent Orange

Remember that awesome show 21 Jump Street. I do! I watched it recently and suddenly remembered an episode with a bunch of punks. Watch below from 5.35 and on as Johnny Depp goes undercover in a criminally infested punk-den where 90210 hottie Jason Priestly is calling the shots. Both of them get caught in a mosh while Agent Orange is playing.

#252 Dead Kennedys the Comic Book

Back in the 90's Revolutionary Comics, a US comic book publisher, released the "Rock 'n Roll Comics". A series featuring unauthorized biographies of various bands and artists.
I remember ordering a friend of mine the Dead Kennedy's episode, cause at the time he was a huge fan. I ran into the comic online not so long ago and figured I'd share it with you right here for download and here for the real deal.

Other Rock' n Roll Comics include N.W.A., Led Zep, Pink Floyd and many many more. Very interesting if collecting vinyl records is not nerdy enough.

#241 Iggy Pop Re-Recording The Passenger With A Bunch Of Kiwi's

It's weird. I work in advertising, I create music for advertising, I love punk music and here at Blog010110 I write about the three of of those. For some reason though, I totally missed this year's Cannes Direct Grand Prix winner. A campaign featuring Iggy Pop. Good thing I went to see yesterday's Cannes Showreel in Tuschinski.

The basic idea: Orcon Broadband Internet is so fast. You can start a band whilst being on opposite sides of the planet , with Iggy Pop if someone pays him enough.
I wish we had this back in the Das Oath days.
