#263 Jack White Is The Best Shoe Salesman In The World

Jack White has been doing well this week in terms of extra money rolling in. Not one but two commercials went on air that feature his music.

The new Converse "Join the Procession" spot, starring legendary basketball player Dr. J, dug up The White Stripes' 'Hello Operator' from their year 2000 record De Stijl. Around the same time, Converse mother company Nike, figured it'd be a swell idea to use The Raconteurs' 'Salute Your Solution' from 2000 and 8's 'Consolers of the Lonely' for their new campaign entitles 'Boom'.

I obviously wasn't there to make either of the deals, but I'm thinking that for 1 year USA on all media platform Jack might have made a cool 250K... a commercial.

Boom!

#261 Top 10 Artists To Fall Asleep To

Online hotel booker Travelodge, figured they'd research what kind of music the Brits listen use to fall asleep. In a survey with 6000 respondents the results are as follows.
From the Travelodge press release:

Findings revealed previous winner Coldplay still has the 'snooze factor' - with Chris Martin's monotonous, meditative melodies claiming the number one position for lulling Britons into slumber. (Coldplay topped the kip charts in 2008 when the survey was previously conducted)

Heart throb and swing vocalist Michael Buble took second place in helping the nation nod off with his dulcet tones. Third place in the kip charts was award to the Scottish / Irish indie boy band, Snow Patrol - who many people believe are the most boring band in Britain.

Britons voted the 'Princess of Soul' Alicia Keys as their fourth favourite sleep inducing singer whilst fifth place was awarded to singer-songwriter, surfer, and soft rock musician Jack Johnson.

1. Coldplay
2. Michael Buble
3. Snow Patrol
4. Alicia Keys
5. Jack Johnson
6. Taylor Swift
7. Mozart
8. Barry White
9. Leona Lewis
10. Radiohead

Now you know.

#260 Lemmy Jamming Out In Kronebourg Commercial

The manliest of man, Lemmy Kilmister is starring in a new commercial for Kronenbourg Beer.

Situated in a French Brasserie type setting, Lemmy and what I think are some other Motörhead guys, are slowing down the pace of The Ace Of Spades.

#259 Doritos' Late Night 360 Degrees Music Videos

Via Wilbert "Six Flags" Leering

Doritos "Late Night" I'm lead to believe is the ultimate bag of potato chips you can have after a long night of partying. To have you believe that as well, the people at AMV/BBDO and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners came up with a campaign that features five relatively unknown bands and a global music event featuring Rihanna and her new video, "Who's That Chick".

Since you have to login with an empty Doritos action pack, I don't know what Rihanna's content is all about. But the five relatively unknown bands all shot a 360 degrees video that you can control. What that means?
Go have a look at the Doritos Late Night website. I promise you won't regret it.

#258 It's Almost Halloween, Top-5 Frightening Tracks

Music Works is a London based company that "Makes Music Work For You". In other words, they search and license music for instore purposes. With Halloween vastly approaching, Music Works together with media researchers EMR wanted to find out what songs people find truly horrifying.
Now I don't see how any retailer would like to frighten their customers, but here's their top-5 nonetheless:

5. Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells

In the Netherlands commonly known as the music you hear when the Baron and his bad guys are about to so something evil to Bassie and Adriaan.

4. Charles Bernstein - Nightmare On Elm Street

Not only a scary movie and a very scary sound track, Nightmare on Elmstreet is also the acting debut of Johnny Depp who is frighteningly awesome.

3. John Williams - Jaws

I guess anyone could have seen this Shark coming from a mile away.

2. Sunn O))) - Cursed Realms Of Winterdemons

I never figured they'd test Sun O))) for this, but it makes sense.

1. George Crumb - Black Angels

The clear number one, 28% of all respondents found George Crumb’s ‘Black Angels’ the most terrifying sound track. While it doesn’t stem from a film, it does have all the hallmarks of a horror soundtrack.
